Nicholson is a K - 6 school building, located in Montgomery, Illinois - about 37 miles southwest of Chicago.

Mission Statement:

The Mission of the West Aurora Schools is to provide a positive learning environment that guides all students toward life long learning by maximizing academic, social, emotional, and physical growth.

Nicholson School was built originally in 1891 as Montgomery School. In 1953 a new addition was constructed, and in 1961a new addition replaced the original building. In 1962 the school was officially named for Grace M. Nicholson, principal from 1915 to 1949. In 1956 the school was consolidated with School District 129.

Nicholson Elementary is one of fifteen schools in the West Aurora Unit School District. Total enrollment of our building is near 330 students with the average class size at approxiamately twenty-three students per classroom, with two classrooms per grade level.

Our new Library Media Center houses twenty-nine Macintosh computers funded through local referendum efforts (1994) supporting technology enhancement of instruction.
