For the next three weeks you will be in a cooperative group that will make a presentation about your investigation. You will investigate some aspect of life science, solve a problem, or try to explain some aspect of life science behavior. Here are some examples:

Solve a problem

http://www.ool.com/

» The Canadian Goose is on the endangered species list. In the St. Charles area there are so many Canadian Geese that they destroy habitat. How can you reconcile the two views?

» If you went outside last summer you got some mosquito bites. Probably quite a few. St. Charles used to spray bug killer from trucks and made many people sick. What program can you devise to meet the needs of both groups?

» The California seal population ravages the nets of fishermen. Some fishermen shoot any seals they see. How can you solve this problem?

These are just example problems. You should solve problems that are more interesting and engaging.

Examine a Behavior

» Why do whales sing?

» How do dolphins communicate?

» Why do some northern Illinois birds not migrate in winter?

These are just example behaviors. You should solve problems that are more interesting and engaging.
