To produce students who use the most current technology and a variety
of information sources to accomplish their goals.
Context/Setting/Environment
To meet the above goal which is part of the School District 303
Strategic Plan through the eighth grade technology class.
Scenario
Time
Frame for Carrying Out Project
Four weeks of one period a day are required for students to master
those skills not related to the Internet which are necessary for the
completed project. The actual project will take four weeks to create
and one week for presentation.
Learner Description
This is a heterogeneous class of 16-22 eighth graders in an affluent
suburban middle school.
Learner Outcomes
Students will identify an appropriate area from their history
curriculum for further study.
Students will refine their topic with input from other students, the
technology teacher, and the history teacher.
Students will create a report in the form of a web page which
containing:
Significant historical content.
Text of their own creation containing information gained on the
Internet.
Text from the net with proper citation of the source.
Graphics from the net with proper citation of the source.
Links to other resources on the net for readers who want to explore
the topic further.
The Project:

Assessment of Students involved in the project
At the beginning of the project the student will receive a teacher
created rubric which assesses content, skills, and cooperative
skills.
Every few days during the project the class will be called together
to reexamine the rubric and discuss how it might need to be modified.
With teacher guidance, the rubric will be modified when
appropriate.
When the project is complete the technology teacher, the history
teacher, the student, and the class will complete a
rubric
assessing the final product.
Evaluation of Project
At the end of each quarter the students, the technology teacher and
the history teacher will document what they think worked, what didn't
work and how the project could be improved.
