Everybody Eats

Bread is the "staff of life."

Around the world bread is a staple (basic food). The kind of bread eaten varies from culture to culture, but everybody eats bread! Bread comes in many shapes, sizes, textures, and flavors. It may be dark, light, hard, soft, chewey, fluffy, spicy, mild, salty, sweet, or sour.

In this project we are going to communicate with people in different countries around the world to discover what type of bread is traditional with their culture and what main ingredient it contains. We will use this information to compare and contrast the various kinds of bread, as well as locate the countries on a world map. We will then use Kid Works Deluxe to write an electronic book titled Everybody Eats Bread, and publish it on the Internet for all to enjoy.

Instructions

You will work with your continent group. Together you will access the page for your continent. You will choose at least two countries with which to telecommunicate. Send an e-mail message asking the contact person to help with your project. Ask them to e-mail you the name of the traditional bread of their culture and what its main ingredient is. Be sure to thank them for their help. For some of the countries you will find additional sites that you might wish to explore.

South America Africa Australia Asia Europe
