Travel Assignment
- You will select and research a state from one of the following assigned regions of the United States: Northeast, Southeast, North Cental, Rocky Mountain, Southwest, Pacific.
- You will research GLOBE (Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment) school and its city or another city near the school in the state you select.
- You will prepare an individual final project.
- Each group will give an oral presentation answering the question, "Why I would choose to travel to this region?"

Group Roles: You will work in groups of three or four students and will have a responsibility/role in your group. If there are three students in a group, then the Data Recorder and Historian will be combined. Although you have a role in your group, you are responsible to assist each other with this project.
- Coordinator: Overseas the project. Sees that the team accomplishes its tasks. Provides overall leadership for the team's work. Coordinates the final projects.
- Navigator: In charge of using the computer to browse the internet.
- Data Recorder: Responsible for recording the data or information needed and prosseses the data.
- Historian: Responsible to manage materials for your group.
TIME: You will have four weeks to complete this project. During this time your team will search the internet for the information in the table pertaining to the state that your group selected and work on your independent final projects.

START HERE: Select one school that is participating in the GLOBE program located in the state you are researching. You may need to enter your school's ID and Password.
- Record the weather data for three weeks: precipitation, cloud cover, and temperature (high, low, current).
- Graph this information.
- Record the school's latitude, longitude, and elevation.
- Compare this data with the data that was entered by our school for the same time period.
- Predict the type of climate in this area.
- Contact the school through the GLOBE e-mail and tell them about your project. Ask them about their weather and climate and see if your predictions are correct.
This information will be used to inform your classmates, teachers, parents, and the GLOBE school about the state you researched in your final project.
CONTINUE SEARCHING: After you have completed the first part of your project, you are ready to search for additional information, graphics, pictures, and maps about your state. Click on SOURCE to take you to additional sources.

- You will select one of the following projects to inform your classmates, teachers, parents, and the GLOBE school about the state you researched. Select only one project:
- A letter or postcard to a family member.

- Travel brochure, booklet, or a newsletter.
- You will be using a spreadsheet program (THE CRUNCHER and/or CLARISWORKS) and a word processing program (THE WRITING CENTER, CLARISWORKS and/or KID WORKS DELUXE) to complete your final project.
- Your group will give an oral presentation. Each student will be responsible to take part in this presentation.
