Communicating With Others

Two very useful communicating tools found on the net are Newsgroups and Listservs. These tools are extremely valuable when you are looking for answers to questions, hoping to connect with others with similar interests, or just to keep up on the latest news in thousands of different areas.

Please share your insights with your colleagues by subscribing to ed-linc4@fnal.gov or ed-linc-all@fnal.gov, lists for announcements and communication among Summer LInC participants. Checkout the Fermilab LInC tutorial for nice (and simple) instructions for subscribing to a listserv. The only exception is that AOL users must fill in something for the subject or AOL mail won't send it. So AOL users should put some arbitrary garbage subject in like "abc". There is more reference information under "About Listservs" and "Listserv Commands"

Remember: When you want to send mail to the members of the list, you send mail to the actual list name (example: ed-linc4@fnal.gov) instead of mailserv@fnal.gov (which is used for subscribe/unsubscribe and other commands).
