Mini-lesson: Learner Outcomes and Assessment

Purpose:

To understand the connection between assessment and learner outcomes
To recognize the correlation between learner outcomes and rubric criteria

Lesson:

Learner outcomes are the basic framework of your project. It is important to have content, process, and product objectives so that all phases of your project will be assessed. Take a look at the learner outcomes for a project your facilitator has selected and answer the following questions:

• Can the objectives be measured?
• Sort the objectives into the three categories of content, process, and product.
• Is there a correlation between the learner outcomes and the criteria on the rubric?

Task/Assignment:

Now look at the criteria on the rubric for your project. Does the criteria match the learner outcomes in your project?
