Description of End Products for the
Facilitators' Academy
Course Participation:
During the Facilitators' Academy we provide work time each
day so that you can complete some of the required tasks. It is
not the expectation that you will complete all of the tasks while
you are here, but we hope you will take advantage of the time
that is provided.
End Products:
The end product for the Facilitators' Academy is to have a
written plan and materials for offering staff development in your
own school or district that shares what you have learned in the
LInC course. The staff development that you plan must match the
needs of your participants. In some cases the participants are
ready for a full LInC course. Other times they are ready for smaller
doses of engaged learning. Your goal is to match the needs of
your school or district and create a staff development plan that
will teach them engaged learning and best use of technology. No
matter what level of staff development you are creating, you will
want to create organizational and management tools to make the
course flow easily before you start your course.
You will have time during the Facilitators' Academy to begin
work on these tools and pages. You will also have the opportunity
to share with the whole group what you have accomplished.
Required Tasks:
- Updated LInC Partnership Program Plan
or LInC Staff Development Plan.
- Home Page for your course -
See the Winter 2001 home page for
ideas.
- Assignment Page
for students to see what they need to complete
- Discussion Schedule - Chat/Meeting
schedule with topics and rooms. This needs to be coordinated with your assignment sheet.
(If not, you may find you have asked participants to discuss a topic in a chat
that requires a task/reading that is not assigned until after the chat :-)
-
Lead Facilitation / Mentoring Agreement
- Class Policy and Requirements Page - Explain
your attendance policy, grading policy, late policy, and participation
policy. What will be required of the participants to successfully
complete the course?
What work must be turned in individually?
What work can be turned in as a team?
- Work Completed Page
for students to check their own progress. This should be coordinated with the
assignment page.
- Course Announcement - You can look at the
Winter 1999 LInC Announcement or
Winter 2001 LInC Announcement for ideas.
Please do not copy and paste hardware and software requirements verbatim.
These need to be adjusted for your specific course based on the requirements
for the chat, bulletin board, and Web editor software you have chosen.
These need to be adjusted annually because the requirements can change with
each new version of software used. Also please adjust the commitment to match
your course's requirements. Your participants are not required to conduct a full
LInC course or even an online course. Instead, they will create a smaller dissemination
plan that is developed for their school's/district's situation. The only exception to
this is participants you invite to take your course and academy with the understanding
that they will join your facilitator team upon successful completion.
- Course Syllabus - You can look at the
LInC course syllabus for ideas.
Do this assignment if you will be offering your course for credit and cannot
use the existing LInC syllabus. Many universities require a syllabus to be
submitted in a university-specific format. You can copy and paste from the
LInC syllabus as needed (rather than re-inventing the whole wheel) provided
you include an acknowledgement with a link to the Fermilab LInC syllabus.
